Crimson Dragon is an upcoming rail shooter for Microsoft’s Xbox 360. It is being developed exclusively for Xbox Live Arcade and Microsoft’s Kinect peripheral. Microsoft planned to release Crimson Dragon on the 13th of June, 2012 in Japan, with other regions to follow, but the game has been delayed to an unspecified future date.1 In December 2012 Yukio Futatsugi, Crimson Dragon’s director, apologised on Twitter, telling his followers that he could not say anything about the delay yet and that people should direct the question to Microsoft.2 In March 2013, Futatsugi told Eurogamer that Crimson Dragon was “really not far off”.3
Crimson Dragon is being developed by Grounding Inc, a developer featuring many former members of Team Andromeda, and Land Ho! the developer of Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 27: Panzer Dragoon. Former Team Andromeda members include Yukio Futatsugi (the director of the original Panzer Dragoon), Manabu Kusunoki (character and dragon designer), and Tomohiro Kondo (director of Panzer Dragoon Zwei). The soundtrack will be composed by Saori Kobayashi who composed the music for Panzer Dragoon Saga and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Besides featuring former staff of the Panzer Dragoon games, Crimson Dragon appears to share a number of characteristics with the Panzer Dragoon series, including dragon based combat, on-rails shooter gameplay, and a futuristic science fiction setting.
Yukio Futatsugi has stated that he wishes to create an RPG sequel to Crimson Dragon which would “directly connect to the ending of the first Crimson Dragon”.4
